About Me

My Headshot

Hi, I’m Mariama Williams, a Cincinnati native and graphic designer with a talent for blending analytical thinking with creativity. My design journey started with a natural creativity recognized and encouraged by family and friends. From drawing portraits to painting a trending design on my nails. From creating choreography with friends to taking stagecraft in high school. This path of creativity led me to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Howard University’s Chadwick Boseman College of Fine Arts, where I focused on 2D, 3D, and animated design.

I enjoy designing work that reveals new layers and perspectives, like a book cover project during undergrad, using typography to shape a brain, creating a literal representation of merging logic with creativity. Over the years, I’ve worked on a variety of projects, from murals to small show productions, and I love seeing how design can make a tangible impact in spaces many may not realize.

My culture and personal interests are huge sources of inspiration. I’m fascinated by the creative process behind music and dream of bridging visual and audio storytelling in my work. When I’m not designing, you’ll often find me contemplating the “correct” order to complete my to-do list, trying to figure out the plot twist in the current show I’m binge-watching, trying the new asian restaurant that just opened, or singing my heart out to some R&B. There a traces of these that can be found in my work or my process because they are traces of me that I leave behind. My layers are in the layers of my designs.
